Role of PPIs in the treatment of Peptic Ulcer

Peptic ulcers are sores that develop in the inner lining of the stomach often as a result of H. pylori infection or due to long term use of NSAIDS. PPIs used in the treatment of peptic ulcer, works by blocking the gastric HK-ATPase. Omeprazole and Pentoprazole works efficiently in the treatment of short term peptic ulcer, bleeding and re-bleeding ulcers.
